Through listening to my late father’s storytelling of folktales, this work looks at my interpretation of his folktales from his cassette tape he recorded while we were living in Thailand. Each piece tells a piece of a specific folktale that relates to Hmong culture and history. Each piece is drawn and created through the use of a sewing machine depicting the story. They are cassette tape holder that holds my father’s cassette tape, telling the stories visually on the exterior of the piece and as you open, texts are shown in relation to the specific narrative on each piece.
